Famous as one half of Sonny and Cher, one of the most famous duos in music history. They started their career in the mid-1960s as backup singers for record producer Phil Spector. Sonny and Cher achieved early fame with two hits in 1965, “Baby Don’t Go” and “I Got You Babe“.
Cher had a very successful career as a solo singer and actress, and Sonny Bono was elected to Congress as a Republican from California. They were inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1998. Shortly before their induction, Sonny died on January 5, 1998 at the age of 62 after skiing in to a tree.
Famous for being a multi-talented singer, actor, and produce, he was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century as well as being one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide.
Born Francis Albert Sinatra, he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on May 14, 1998 at the age of 82 after suffering a heart attack.
