Former Location –
Irving Plaza is a ballroom-style music venue located within the Union Square neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.
In 1978, the hall was converted to a rock music venue by the future Peppermint Lounge promoters known as “Club 57”.
Over time, the club became a premier location for the punk and new wave scene. Bands that played here in the late 70’s and early rock 80’s included The B-52s, Talking Heads, The Buzzcocks, The Cramps, The Ramones and Nico & John Cale.
The club closed in 1983, the location is now a clinic for mental-health patients within Irving Plaza.
