Now known as the Peabody Opera House. On July 11, 1978, the Rolling Stones performed one sold-out show at the Kiel Opera House. Bill Graham was the tour promoter and all 3,557 seats sold out in 75 minutes after a one-time radio announcement on two St. Louis radio stations.
After their success at the Monterey International Pop Festival the month before, The Who began a US tour here on July 14, 1967 opening for Herman’s Hermits.
Other Rock, R&B and pop artists played here including Herman’s Hermits, The Blues Magoos, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Neil Diamond, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Bob Dylan, The Doors, Jimmy Buffett, Peter Gabriel, Angel, Billy Joel, The Eagles, and Bruce Springsteen.
