The Levitt Shell

Previously known as the Overton Park Shell and the Raoul Wallenberg Shell, the venue is an outdoor amphitheater built during the great depression as part of President Roosevelt’s “Public Works Projects”.

On July 30, 1954 Elvis Presley took the stage before headliner Slim Whitman. Elvis stole the show in what music historians call the first-ever rock and roll show. Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Alex Chilton and many others also made their first public appearances on the stage.
