The brick building at 2nd Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave. was the background for the Ramones self-titled debut studio album which was released on April 23, 1976 by Sire Records.
The album cover was photographed by Punk magazine’s Roberta Bayley. Ramones peaked at Number 111 on the US Billboard 200 and was not commercially successful although it was ranked at number 33 in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” in 2012.
