Buried Here –
Ronald John Tabak
Ron Tabak was an opera-trained vocalist in the Canadian rock group, Prism. His death is somewhat a mystery. It is believed that he was struck by a passing vehicle while riding his bicycle. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where doctors did not find anything wrong with him.
Ron abruptly became abusive after his release from the hospital, which prompted police officers at the hospital to arrest him on the belief he was drunk. He was later discovered unconscious in his jail cell and was rushed back to the hospital. A second examination discovered a blood clot had developed on the right side of his brain.
Ron died on December 25, 1984 at the age of 31.

I met Ron at a McDonalds restaurant on 6th street New West, just weeks before his tragic death Mc D’s Gone now. He was eating a burger.. Very cordial guy. We talked for a few minutes. I thought Prism was one of the best Canadian bands ever.. Still a good band but better with Ron on the mike
Hi Bill Cooper.
My name is Mike Johns. I started playing a multitude of instruments since 1964. I never had lessons. I’m self taught and I could play almost any song by ear. I have perfect pitch. I moved away from the GVRD/Fraser Valley ( West Coast ) area to Merritt, in the Thompson/Nicola valley area in the Northern Interior. We moved here 7 months before the start of Covid.
I wish I would have met Ron and all of the band. He had such a great voice. I have a home recording studio in the bottom floor of out 3 floor townhome. It’s all sound-proofed, but I get loud sometimes. LOL.
Ron was Awesome 😎 no doubt about it… I went to all the Prism concerts close to my home town in Alberta for years. Until the first initial breakup. Then my family moved … It was a tragedy when Ron passed on. I still enjoy listening to the songs I grew up with.
I’m an Albertan too. I love Prism and remember going to watch them a few times in Edmonton on the Southside. I can’t remember the name of the nightclub Ron really put Prism on the charts he was known as a kind gentle man. He had a speech disorder and stuttered terribly but he sang like an Angel . Sadly the system let him down and he left us way too soon. 💔
My name is Ron, and I met Ron at my brother’s annual summer barbeque in 1976 . Super nice and humble man. And loved to interact with children. He is missed by many
Remembering my dear friend Ron who would have been 69 today – miss you always but especially today…
Hello Gayle, Do you know if he sang the National Anthem at a Yankee game?
I’m trying to find out if Ron was who I am thinking of who sang the national anthem at a Yankees game. Does anyone know?
Met and partied with Ron in Edmonton way back in the day. Hell of a nice guy. I reside in East Vancouver and one day will go visit his grave to pay my respects to him. I still think the Vancouver Cops laid a beating into him while in jail when he was arrested for being supposedly drunk and abusive. Back in the day when cops could beat up an inmate and get away with it and murder. Him hitting his head falling off his bike while riding to Al’s for Christmas caused him to be in the state he was in. Blood clot happened from the beating the cops gave him while in jail. VPD is to blame.
