Tommy Ramone, who was born Tamás Erdélyi. Tommy was the drummer for the Ramones for the first four years of the band’s existence. Tommy was also the last surviving original member of the Ramones.
He played drums for the band from 1974 through 1978 and co-produced the bands first three albums, “Ramones“, “Leave Home
“, “Rocket to Russia
” and the live album “It’s Alive
“. His final show as drummer was at a benefit event at CBGB’s in New York on May 4, 1978. Tommy was replaced on drums in 1978 by Marky Ramone.
Tommy died at his home in Ridgewood, New York on July 11, 2014, at the age of 65 from bile duct cancer.
