Luther Vandross became famous for his soulful, romantic ballads and his many collaborations with such stars as Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson. He was also an in-demand background vocalist for many artists including Diana Ross, Judy Collins, Bette Midler, Todd Rundgren, David Bowie and Chaka Khan.
During his career, he sold over 35 million records worldwide, and received eight Grammy Awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four different times.
Luther passed away on July 1, 2005 at the age of 54 from a heart attack after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2003.
Marvin Isley
Marvin Isley was the youngest member and bass player of the R&B music group The Isley Brothers. Marvin died on June 6, 2010 at the age of 56 from the complications of diabetes.
