Jerry Nolan

Johnny Thunders

Johnny was also a member of the New York Dolls as a guitarist, singer and songwriter. His given name was John Anthony Genzale and he took his stage name from the song “Johnny Thunder” by the Kinks from their album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society.

Johnny died under mysterious circumstances with some people saying he overdosed, and others saying he was killed for drugs. Either way, an autopsy confirmed evidence of advanced leukemia, which would have most likely killed him anyway. He died on April 23, 1991 at the age of 38.
