Lawrence William “Larry” Knechtel was a keyboard player and bassist, best known as a member of the Wrecking Crew and as the keyboardist with the 1970’s music group “Bread”.
As a member of the Wrecking Crew, he worked with The Beach Boys, The Monkees, The Doors, The Mamas and the Papas, Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond. He also played bass guitar on The Byrds’ 1965 hit “Mr. Tambourine Man“ and played piano on Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters
“.
Larry died on August 20, 2009, in Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, Washington, at the age of 69 of a heart attack.
