Leon Russell was a musician, songwriter and producer who played with Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, and Joe Cocker. He also had a long history as a studio musician in the famous backup band the Wrecking Crew who provided back up for many artists including Jan and Dean, the Beach Boys, the Monkees and the Byrds.

Leon appeared in George Harrison’s 1971 “Concert for Bangladesh” and can be seen in the movie of the same name. His biggest hits were with 1972’s “Tight Rope” and 1975’s “Lady Blue“.

His career spanned over five-decades, and he recorded over 30 albums and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

Leon died on November 13, 2016 at his home from complications of a heart attack. He was 74 years old.
