Edward James Kendrick

Edward was best known by his stage name Eddie Kendricks. Eddie was one of the original members of The Temptations and was one of their lead singers from 1960 until 1971. You can hear his characteristic falsetto as the lead singer on “The Way You Do The Things You Do”, “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)” and “Get Ready”.

After leaving the Temptations, he had many hits as a solo artist including a number one single, “Keep On Truckin“.

In 1989, Kendrick and The Temptations were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Eddie died of lung cancer on October 5, 1992 at the age of 52.

Eddie Kendrick Memorial Park was dedicated on October 16, 1999 to commemorate the memory of Eddie and honor his timeless talent.
