Patty Donahue

Patty Donahue was a native of Akron, Ohio and was involved in the local music scene. When her friend Chris Butler wrote “I Know What Boys Like” in 1977 he asked Patty to handle the vocals (good move!). “I Know What Boys Like” ended up getting them a contract with Polydor after which they formed The Waitresses. Their debut album with the label, was Wasn’t Tomorrow Wonderful? which was released on January 11, 1982 .

The band had another hit, “Christmas Wrapping” from their album “A Christmas Record” in 1981.

Patty died on December 9, 1996 due to lung cancer at the age of 40.
