Johnnie Ray was singer, songwriter, pianist and one of the most popular entertainers of the 1950s. He recorded 25 hits for Columbia Records that landed in the top thirty from 1951 to 1957 including two hits from 1952, “Cry” and “The Little White Cloud That Cried
“.
On February 24, 1990, Johnnie died of liver failure at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles at the age of 63.

I met Jonnie when we both came to audition at a club in Portland, Or. – both young. He became very popular in Portland where he performed at a club called The Shadows. He went on to overnight stardom and I went on to four years of military service during the Korean War.
