Opened in 1955 by Conrad Hilton, the hotel is located at the crossroads of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills. The Hilton was considered John F. Kennedy‘s Western White House as his helicopter landed in the parking lot of the Robinsons next door. Also, after losing the California gubernatorial race in 1962, Richard Nixon famously stated (incorrectly of course) “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore,” in the International Ballroom here.
In 1993, four undercover cops posing as Japanese businessmen conducted a sting operation in a suite here that busted The Million Dollar Madam, Heidi Fleiss.
On February 11, 2012 Whitney Houston was found dead here in room 434. She was 48.
On a lighter note, the Beverly Hilton has hosted the Golden Globe Awards since 1961 and Clive Davis has hosted his Pre-Grammy Party here for many years.
