On December 7, 1980 Darby Crash, who was born Jan Paul Beahm and was the lead singer of The Germs, overdosed on heroin here at the age of 22.

The next day John Lennon was murdered so his death went largely unnoticed. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
