Dee Dee Ramone, born Douglas Glenn Colvin, and one of the original founding members of The Ramones, died June 5, 2002 in apartment #204 in this apartment building in Hollywood. Police responding to a 911 call on June 5 found a syringe with “possible drug residue” and five balloons with “possible drug contents” in his apartment.
His wife, Barbara, found him on a couch in his Hollywood home in the evening of June 5, 2002. Paramedics were called and he was declared dead at the scene. He was found face down, lying over the arm of the couch.
His funeral was held on June 11, 2002, in Hollywood. It was a relatively private affair attended by surviving Ramones members, family, and close friends. His plot is in the Garden of Legends, Lot 2003, Space 4.
At the time of his death, a toxicology report was pending; it took some time for definitive confirmation of heroin as the cause.
Tombstone inscription features the Ramones seal. The stone is inscribed with “O.K… I gotta go now.” The inscription also includes a line from his song “Highest Trails Above.”
Dee Dee is buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery along with Johnny Ramone.
