I had just joined the U.S. Army in 1960. His song “Runnaway” came out when I was in basic training at Ft. Dix, N.J. That song just motivated me to get through basic training. I know this is not much; but that man and his music touched my life. May Del Shannon rest in peace and may the Lord bless his soul.
Here, here, Dell Shannon brought to me and all of our 60s fans many a sing along every night we played his records well into the night loved him to bits now and for ever amen .once met Dell at a place in Blackburn Lancashire uk got his autograph always play his records .
I remember going to see the great Del Shanon in England, not too long before he died. He came on stage , complete with cowboy hat, not saying a word he hit the guitar and “attacked” the mic, he was clearly a man on a mission. He took no prisoners that night……a superb performance!
