Jim Morrison met his girlfriend Pamela Courson at the London Fog on the Sunset Strip in 1965, while she was an art student at Los Angeles City College. The Doors had a residency at the London Fog during this period that served as the band’s testing ground for their original material.

On July 3, 1971, Pam awoke to find Morrison dead in the bathtub of their apartment in Paris. As she was named Jim’s heir in his will, she was to inherit his entire fortune. Challenges to the will would continue for a few years.

Pam overdosed on heroin here on April 25, 1974, she died at 27 years old, the same age that Jim and so many others died. Her cremated remains are at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California.
