Where John Lennon Was Killed, Just Outside Of The Dakota Apartments

At around 10:50 p.m. (EST) on December 8, 1980, Mark David Chapman shot and killed John Lennon just outside of the Dakota Apartments where he lived. He died shortly afterwards at the Roosevelt Hospital. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for the madman that would shortly kill him.

John’s wife Yoko Ono scattered his ashes in New York’s Central Park, where the Strawberry Fields memorial was later created.
