Johnny Ace was a successful R&B singer with several hits including “Yes, Baby,” “Saving My Heart for You,” and “Never Let Me Go.”

Ace was touring with Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton when he accidentally shot himself at the City Auditorium in Houston.

Some say he was playing Russian roulette, but Big Mama disputed this in a written statement.
