June was best known as the youngest and one of the founding members of “The Pointer Sisters“. She was known to be struggling with cocaine addiction for much of her career and was ousted from the Pointer Sisters in 2004.
While hospitalized for a stroke in 2006, she was diagnosed with cancer, which had metastasized throughout her body. She died at UCLA Medical Center on April 11, 2006 at the age of 52.
June is buried at the Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
