The builder, James Trussart, is a French‐born musician-turned-luthier. He began as a fiddler and moved into building stringed instruments in the 1980s.

After working in France and spending time in Louisiana, he established his workshop in Los Angeles around 2000.

His background blends musician’s sensibility + instrument repair/experimenting as well as metalwork craftsmanship. He developed what is known as a “Rust-O-Matic” finish: the metal is purposely exposed to the elements/corrosion, then treated and finished in satin, giving an aged/rusted aesthetic. His guitars are used by Sonny Landreth, James Hetfield, Rich Robinson and many more.
