A Los Angeles music store staple. It is not unusual on any given day to find Joni Mitchell or Lyle Lovett, Graham Nash or David Crosby, Kebmo or Chris Hillman visiting Westwood Music, talking with the other regular customers.

The store was founded by Hermann Walecki around 1947, originally as a classical-instrument shop.

Herman’s son, Fred Walecki, took over after his father’s death in 1967 and transformed the shop into a central hub for the L.A. guitar/music scene.

Services & Stock:

  • New, used, and vintage instruments (guitars, amps, etc.).
  • Expert repair services, including setups and bespoke work.
  • Instrument lessons and community space: the interior had a comfortable lounge-feel with couches, walls full of guitars, etc
