For more than 75 years, The Hammond Organ has been the true “King of Instruments”. Their organs are heard in churches of every denomination, concert venues of all types, and recording studios throughout the world.
The company traces its roots to Laurens Hammond (1895-1973). He originally founded the Hammond Clock Company in 1928, then moved into electric organ manufacture around 1934-35.
The first organ (Model A) was introduced in 1935, using the tone-wheel technology.
The company was originally based in Chicago/Evanston, Illinois, and at its peak operated multiple manufacturing plants.
It later became part of other corporate structures; today the Hammond brand is owned by Suzuki Musical Instrument Corporation.
