Former Residence –
This is the house where Chuck Berry lived from 1950 to 1958 that will eventually become a museum honoring him. It is currently owned by the city of St. Louis which has designated it an historical landmark.

Berry wrote many classics here including: “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Johnny B. Goode,” and “Rock and Roll Music.”

The neighborhood is known as the Greater Ville, where black people could own property in St. Louis during the era of segregation in the South. Berry moved in when he was just 24 and started a family. Shortly afterwards he started playing gigs with the Chuck Berry combo, and signed a record contract with Chess Records.
