In 1964, Sly Stewart of Sly and the Family Stone lived here while he was a DJ at KSOL, a soul radio station in San Francisco. He was also producing records at the time for Autumn Records with San Francisco-area bands such as The Beau Brummels, The Mojo Men and Grace Slick’s first band, the Great Society.

In 1993, Sly was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Sly and the Family Stone.
