Every true Deadhead already knows this address and the lore behind this house. The Grateful Dead actually only lived here between 1966 and 1968 but that was enough time to make this home a semi-religious spot people trekked to from pretty much every corner of the earth.

Jerilyn Brandelius, author and member of the Grateful Dead family, dies at 72.
Jerilyn Brandelius, a fixture of the 1970s San Francisco music scene with a resume that ranged from bookkeeper for the Hells Angels to author of “The Grateful Dead Family Album,” died Aug. 31, with Bob Weir singing “Brokedown Palace” at her hospital bedside.
Brandelius was admitted to the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus for emergency heart surgery and never regained consciousness, said her niece Frankie Norstad of Los Angeles. She was 72 and had been an integral part of the Grateful Dead‘s extended family for 50 years. Brandelius was closest to drummer Mickey Hart, with whom she lived for 10 years while they raised her two children, Christina Nanda and Creek Hart.
When Brandelius got the contract to author “The Grateful Dead Family Album,” she moved from San Francisco to San Rafael to be near the band’s headquarters. She took an office, where she also slept, above a taqueria. While assembling the book she had a side job landscaping a set of three Victorians in a row, owned by the band, and a second side job giving massages to people who worked at the Dead offices.
