Hotel Theresa – Jimi Hendrix Stayed Here On Arrival In NYC

When Jimi Hendrix first came to New York in 1964 he stayed at this hotel.

Other notable guests include: Ray Charles, Little Richard and Lena Horne. Radio station WLIB-1190 AM, then known as “Harlem Radio Center” had their studios here from 1952-1962.

The building began to convert into office space called “Theresa Towers” beginning in 1966, and the hotel was shut down in 1967.
