I loved this place. I saw Paul Horn, Jimmy Witherspoon, Ben Webster, Richie Kamuca, Joe Gordon, and so many others. I my buddy and I went practically every week for at least one show. We would sit in ‘Spoon’s car with him and pass around a bottle. Great memories.
My mom, Maggie Ryan Denver, work there the summer of 1958. She also worked at The Unicorn.
I remember your mother . My mother Miki and your mother were very good friends.
Anybody know where this photo comes from?
Or where is the original?
Would be great to be able to make out all the words on the sign….
my uncle, Ben Shapiro, started this place
Is he still alive? Turns out my biological mother worked for him. I guess she was live in at his house
