This is a landscaped section in New York City’s Central Park that is dedicated to the memory of John Lennon. It is named after the Lennon/McCartney song “Strawberry Fields Forever” from their album “Magical Mystery Tour“.
It is located on the West Side of the Park between West 71st Street and West 74th Street, directly across from the Dakota Apartments (72nd Street & Central Park West) where John Lennon lived and was tragically killed on December 8 1980.
Yoko Ono scattered his ashes here before the monument was laid.
