The Alamo Gets Peed On By A Drunk Ozzy Osbourne

The Alamo Cenotaph

In February 1982, Ozzy Osbourne found himself at the center of one of rock’s most infamous off-stage scandals. While in San Antonio, Texas, during his Diary of a Madman tour, Osbourne wandered near the historic Alamo Plaza in the early morning hours and urinated on the Alamo Cenotaph, the 60-foot monument honoring the defenders who died in the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. He was arrested for public intoxication and desecrating a public monument.

In 1992, Osbourne made a highly publicized return to San Antonio. In a gesture of contrition, he issued a formal apology and donated $10,000 to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the organization that helped maintain the Alamo site at the time.
