In 1982 artist Doug Hollis built a Sound Garden, as a public art installation with tall metal pipes soaring skyward. Winds cause the pipes to resonate, emitting an eerie sound.
Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell said that he and his band stumbled upon it one day and thought that the creepy music was cool enough to use the place as their new band’s name.
