A little bit of redneck in Hollywood, it was here that Janis Joplin partied the night she died. This was also one of Jim Morrison’s hangouts in the late sixties due to its proximity to his semi-permanent home at the Alta Cienega Motel and the Doors office/recording studio.
Jim spent many a long night drinking here before retiring to either the motel or the studio and was reportedly thrown out of Barney’s for urinating on the bar at least once.

The place has changed little since then. Still a great place to get chili, burgers, beer and a game of pool.

ANOTHER Jim hang was Irv’s Burgers. The original Route 66 hamburger stand (Previously Queenie’s) is still there as part of restaurant The Conservatory. Jim at at the counter stools there often.
