Canter's Deli

Canter’s Deli is a Jewish-style delicatessen that opened in 1931 and is known to be a world famous gathering spot for musicians actors and anyone else looking for late-night food. Some of their regular past and present include: John Travolta, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Olivia Newton John, The Cars, Frank Zappa and Phil Spector.

The deli got a shout out from the Turtles on their album The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands. In the song “Oh Daddy” there is this line: “What are the other kids at Canter’s going to say, they would worry as they saw us drive away”.

The current owner, Marc Canter went to high school with Slash and published a book in 2007 about the early days of Guns N’ Roses called “RECKLESS ROAD: Guns N’ Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction”.
