On August 11, 1982, Sonny Bono opened his first ‘BONO’ restaurant in West Hollywood, California. He later went on to own and manage a successful chain of Bono outlets, which had received positive reviews for their Sicilian-style Italian cuisine based on his family’s recipes.
In 1991, an article reported that Sonny Bono was selling his namesake Italian restaurant (and associated tennis club) in Palm Springs.
According to a 2021 history piece, Bono’s restaurant (in Palm Springs) helped spark his political ambitions: his dispute over a sign for the restaurant led him into local politics.

In August 1982 my client Chuck Connors I was his Agent, took me to lunch at BONO’s. I remember it like it was yesterday. Chuck and Sunny were old friends. Great service, great food. I miss those days.
