The Silverlake Conservatory of Music was founded in 2001 by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and fellow musicians Keith Barry and Pete Weiss and is housed in an 11,000-square-foot building on Hollywood Boulevard built in 1931.

The Conservatory offers private music lessons on all instruments, as well as a variety of ensemble classes for a reasonable price. They also grant scholarships to children who qualify, providing free lessons and instruments.

Programs offered:

  • Private lessons on all band/orchestral instruments and voice.
  • Ensemble classes (small group, jazz combos, choirs) and specialized classes (for example the “Hollywood Highsteppers” brass ensemble).
