More Steely Dan

Founded in 1860, Bard College is a private liberal arts college. The campus overlooks the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, and is within the Hudson River Historic District.

Fagen and Becker’s time at Bard prompted them to write their song “My Old School” for Steely Dan. Fagen wrote another Steely Dan song, “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number“, about novelist, artist and former Bard faculty member Rikki Ducornet who met Fagen at a college party where he gave her his phone number.

After a brief time as staff songwriters at ABC Records in Los Angeles, they went on to found Steely Dan.
