Epitaph Records was originally “just a logo and a P.O. Box” created in 1980 by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz for the purpose of selling Bad Religion records. Today it is an independent music label in Los Angeles. Early releases from a variety of punk bands such as Rancid and the Offspring helped usher in what later became known as the 90s punk explosion.
