Paramount Recording Studios was built in the late 1960’s by the Brolin family. Encouraged by his brother, the well-known actor James Brolin, Brian Brolin opened the studio after gaining some renown of his own from his recording work with his former classmate Ritchie Valens.
In the 70’s, Brian engineered for Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, and individually with each of the Beatles.

A slight correction, if I may, James Brolin real last name is Bruderlin. James changed it for professional reasons. His brother Brian was the sole Engineer at Paramount Recording Studios till he sold the studio in the mid to late ’70’s. I know this because I worked for Brian for a few years as the the studio set up man. I met James Brolin around the time he auditioned for a new series with Robert Young (Marcus Welby, M.D.) Brian went to school in the Newport Beach area…and was friends with many Surf bands from down there.
In those days, we had our share of solo singers, (James Brown, Wayne Newton, Diana Ross, to name a few) groups (Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Musslewhite Blues Band)…many sessions with members of The Wrecking Crew. Fond memories , plus the studio is still a working recording studio to this day. Not many studios from that era can say that!
Are we speaking of 6425 Santa Monica, rented by Adam from about 1970’s and it was called Paramount Recording with another partner until my mother sold the property in 2005-6? Confused my grandparents (grandfather) owned it until 1980 and then mom inherited property and she sold it around Aug. 2005 or 6, or I’m I reading about another property owned by Paramount Recording , if so I apologize. Actually spent many hours getting stuck with grandparents when collecting rent at that old location on Santa Monica and if you can believe dropped off at old Hollywood Forever Cemetery and just told to wait while they checked on the property, actually new that old place by heart 65 years ago.
Duh! Lets submit knew not new.
