Former Location –
914 Sound Recording Studios was a recording studio in Blauvelt, New York during the 1970s. Some of the artists who recorded here include Bruce Springsteen, Dusty Springfield, The Ramones, Blood, Sweat & Tears and Melanie. It was named after the telephone area code that used to serve the neighborhood where it was located.
Bruce Springsteen started recording here after he signed with Columbia Records in 1972. The recordings made at the studio at this time would make their way onto Springsteen’s debut album “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.“
The first songs for Springsteen’s third album, “Born to Run“, were also recorded here in 1974. Springsteen’s producer was not thrilled with the recording equipment here and moved the rest of the album’s recording to The Record Plant.
