“Rock for Light”, the timeless punk album by Washington D.C.’s iconic rasta punks, Bad Brains, was recorded at Synchro Sound. Ric Ocasek produced the album, which was inspirational to bands such as The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many others.
I worked there in the early 90s. Ocasek stopped by a couple times, Mighty Mighty Bosstones recorded a concert intro there, Roger Waters had a satellite record release party. Good times. Anyone ever heard of Ginger Buttkiss?
Part of Nine Inch Nails’ “Pretty Hate Machine” was recorded here back in late 88 or early 89. Not sure which of Flood/John Fryer/Keith LeBlanc/Adrian Sherwood had a connection that brought Reznor here…likely LeBlanc as he’s fairly local these days (is that him commenting above me?).
