Funky Features was a very special place for me many years ago. My first boyfriend worked there. Funky SAM Funky PAUL and Funky JACK were amazing and fun people to me. They let me help make Black Light Posters on an old press in the basement. I remember seeing Rod Stuart and Jeff Beck hanging around in the parlor visiting from England. So many iconic musicians from that era were to be found at 142 Central every day. It was full of weird and wonderful antiques and objects and it had a magical ambiance. I do not think there are places like that in this age. its a place I often visit in my mind when I reminisce about “the good old days”
Recorded a ton of songs there. Some of the session players came from Sammy Hagars Band. Great times. We recorded there from 1969 till Jack moved to Russian Hill
In 1978 the group Doc Schultz and the Last Frontier Band recorded their Album by the same name at Funky Features Studio. Does anyone know how to contact John Speer who holds the 16 track masters ?
Whatever happened to Funky Sam? Last time I talked to him he had fallen in love with some sweet young thing and was living in Marin.
