These groups had their good to fine tunes recorded there. Oh yes, the dynamic duo of David Rubison and Fred Catero held some sessions there, before setting shop in Heiders.
As every telephone pole that was a telegraph to the music back in the late sixties early seventies,I was inamered to that strange little square building with a ramp that filled with water in the winter I played in the field across the el Camino were the once lions restaurant sat and is now possibly a sushi establishment I as a young child saw many a musician unloading there and my curiosity on more than one occasion got me in the door peering up over the second door into the studio just head high but ears a blazing for I heard some great music for which to this day I can only assume was the grateful dead or Santana or the band with a horn section I remember being cool me my brother and all neighborhood friends played in that hotel estate field for years and I was lucky enough to be the youngest and I guess most curious for I remember those days so clearly as if it were just yesterday…what a great time in music that studio adorned, thanks for letting me peek in over the glass door who ever you were…Scott stevens
I did many projects there, the album by AURA,was recorded there,my brother Reggi was a engineer there.I did many records there and worked with some real crazy and talented people.I could tell so many stories of what went down there, some of the best times in my life.
Hello Mr Weiss, hope you’re fine.
Took me a while to find a direct contact to you! I am a big fan of your and your brothers’ 60s and 70s work. I could tell so many stories of the good times I’ve spent and tears I’ve cried with your music. But I would be way more interested in hearing your stories from you personally. Should you ever read this, would you please be so kind to contact me? magnisi.n@gmail.com Many thanks in advance, Nicola Magnisi
I was with Joint Arists back in the early seventies when we recorded 4 different artists at Pacific. Noel Gott who was an engineer for us, remained my engineer in Santa Cruz for decades afterward. Chuck Daniel’s was our main producer and we did albums for Steve Krilonovic, Bob Rains and . I started Diana Lehr Productions there with a single by Phylis Schofner. Paul Curcio was a real character! His office was floor to ceiling black curtains and purple shag carpeting. He had his desk on a riser so he could look down on everyone who was conducting business.

Russell Daneke was our other artist!
Yes, Russell Daneke, so talented!
Russell Daneke was actually Chuck’s favorite artist.. we wanted to make sure our artist’s got their masters when we got sued. Chuck came to me when he was leaving for Missouri and asked me to do what I could to get Russell’s material out and promoted. Great artist!
Yes, Russell Daneke, who was Chuck’s very good friend! What a great songwriter and artist! Amazing times!
Of course! I thought I typed his name. Russell Daneke was actually Chuck Daniel’s favorite artist. Thanks for correcting that!
I worked there in the 70’s along with Richard Bosworth, I was a Jr. Tech back then and the last person to work for Paul before the IRS closed the place and hauled off all the gear, including the Old Quad 8 consoles. Sad ending to a legendry Studio. Paul won a judgement, got everything back and I put the studio back together in Santa Rosa.
