Former Location, now called the Charles M. Schulz Theatre –
In 1971 Walter Knott, who was good friends with John Wayne, loved that they shared the same personal values, so he named the 2,150 seat Knott’s Berry Farm theater, “John Wayne Theater.”
On July 14, 1973 at the John Wayne Theater, the Everly Brothers played the last concert of their career before breaking up. It’s said that Phil smashed his guitar and stalked off stage, leaving Don to announce their breakup.

First, the concert promoter halted the show, due to Don’s extreme drunkeness and inability to remember lyrics. Then came Phil’s guitar smashing.
I played that show playing Guitar with Jerry Naylor…..I also remember the great Jerry Wallace was on the bill- Anyone remember who else was on the show..?
I remember seeing them in 72 or 73 with my parents.
