After nearly 57 years, the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena closed permanently on May 12, 2016 to make way for the construction of a soccer stadium as well as a museum, restaurants, and retail and office space.
The Los Angeles Pop Festival was held here on December 22 and 23, 1968. The concerts were also called a “Christmas Happening”. The groups playing at the festival included:
