You left out the Band X
The Jam played there in early 80s. PIL played there a few years later.
Also left out the Jon’s. Jon Anderson and Jon Luc Ponty
Alcatrazz never actually played AFAIK. The Circle Jerks opened (odd choice for an opener) and Alcatrazz promptly cancelled. No refunds were given.
I seen Guns and Roses there 3rd night !! Fantastic place
I saw the Psychedelic Furs there after the release of their first album. About 1980 – Great show!!
I saw Ricki Lee Jones on her Pirates tour there in 1981. She played there in 1979 as well after her debut album.
Jackson Browne @ Perkins. Always a Great Show. Older days Pasadena == pretty dang cool…
Best thing I remember at this venue was an ad curtain over the stage that was left from its 1920’s era origin, complete with a late1920’s (maybe early 1930’s) car. They raised it when bands were performing, so it was only visible before the shows.
The strangest thing I saw there was the Birthday Party coupled with the Cramps. Though their musics sounded similar, their audiences were not at all alike. One gathered along the left wall, the other audience gathered along the right wall, and they just glared at each other. No fights or anything, just didn’t want to be in each other’s presence. It was an awkward booking.
I saw Talking Heads Aug 1982 doing Stop Making Sense at Perkins Palace. It wasn’t listed in their concert history anywhere so maybe they were practicing for their tour! Greatest concert! He wore his big suit and his base player was very pregnant, Tina Weymuth(sp?)
