Former location –
Ondine was considered one of the coolest mid-60’s East Side of New York discos. Ondine was an exclusive private discotheque club, it was a celebrity-based restaurant and dance club.
The club was only open from 1965 to 1967 but in that time they hosted some of the biggest names in rock and roll including:
3/13 – 4/2/1967 – The Doors
1/5/1967 – Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels
4/4/1967 – Buffalo Springfield
5/3/1966 – 5/2/1966 – The Bobby Fuller Four
4/16/1966 – The Remains

I was friends with Linda a waitress there whose boy friend was assistant manager of Arthur’s. The city was lots of fun times.
I saw The Doors’ first New York City concert at Ondine’s. Af friend’s boyfriend was a bouncer and let us in. The club was chic and tiny and Jim was drunk most of the time, but the shows were legendary.
I was there.
I saw the Doors at Ondine in November, 1966.
I saw the Doors at Ondine. (And The Scene, and Hunter College). I was up front and pretty personal at Ondine. Morrison wrapped those leather covered, sexy legs around the mic and practically grinded in my face. Loved every minute of it.
Losing clubs like Ondine and The Scene in such short time periods was a huge loss to the live rock club scene and to this club kid. (They were not called discos). I’d jump cross town between the two clubs.
(Steve Paul opened another Scene on the east side [The Scene East] and I was the DJ).
