Former location –
Now Known s Marcus Garvey Park, Mount Morris Park is a 20 acre park on the border between the Harlem and East Harlem neighborhoods of Manhattan, New York City. The park was host to a series of concerts held from June 29th to August 24th 1969 celebrating African American music and culture.
For the concert featuring Sly and the Family Stone on June 29, 1969, the NYPD refused to provide security, and it was instead provided by members of the Black Panther Party.
Although the full concert series was filmed, the majority of the film has never been commercially released although parts of it were broadcast as hour-long specials on a local New York TV station on Saturday evenings in June, July and August 1969.
