I don’t know that Big Brother and the Holding Company ever appeared at Eagles but perhaps. The Dead played multiple shows as did Pink Floyd. Chicago Transit Authority, Joe Cocker, Blue Cheer, Country Joe and the Fish, Steve Miller, Blue Cheer, tons more
Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin appeared at Eagles. I was there.
I remember seeing Blue Cheer and that there was acid being handed out called blue cheer at the same show. I was 14 or 15 at the time I saw them. I went every chance I could, taking a bus from Rainier Beach in south Seattle and walking up to the Auditorium.. Many good times were had and many fantastic memories made.
I was just thinking how many they missed because there were groups there every weekend – Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck Group, In 1967 – there were TONS of bands playing there. I was the cute little blonde who kissed everyone on the ramps on the way up to the Auditorium! Lol!
I am an author now and have a blog on Substack called Pamala Vallarta subscribe and read a bunch of stories about being raised in Seattle.
What a fantastic place for concerts. No bleechers, benches or seats, just sat or layed on the floor. I met soooo many beautiful hippie chicks there. Good memories and some fantastic music. I remember seeing Iron Butterfly, they returned from a set break and announced, “We are gonna play the second side of our album, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, best drum solo in the world.
It was there too, 15 years old at the time…amazing
The balcony, if you can call it that, at Eagles Auditorium wrapped around both sides and extended to the back of the stage. I recall it was only two rows deep and had seats. After seeing Chicago Transit Authority open and close for the Jeff Beck group, we were the first five in line when Chicago returned as the headliners. We knew about the balcony and hauled ass up the spiral concourses and grabbed the first five front row seats on the left side of the balcony. We were literally hanging over the stage and the band members kept looking up at as as if we were the stoners that we were.
The Queen Annes played there with The Heats!
My mom was born in 1948…She’s gone now…but I remember her saying she went to see-(or wanted to go see?) Fats Domino in Seattle –Maybe she did…-that would have been July 1961— she would have been 13—and she had an older half sister that was married and lived in Spokane. Wishing Mom was still here to tell the story…
